Head of Section: John Bradshaw
Press & Public Affairs Officer: Vincent Nalwendela
Who are we?
We are the team that deals with the media, both written and electronic. We provide the media and the general public with information about life, events and policies in Britain.
What is our aim?
Our aim is to project a positive image of Britain in Tanzania and increase the knowledge and understanding of Britain and British policies.
How do we seek to achieve this?
Through press and public diplomacy.
How does the press side work?
We issue press releases of events, arrange press conferences and distribute speeches made by British Ministers. The High Commission is happy to give interviews and briefings about the British Government and its policies or indeed about any event with which the British High Commission is involved.
What do you mean by Public Diplomacy?
We organise special events to project Britain's image in Tanzania. We can also provide printed information about different aspects of life and events in the UK ranging from political elections to housing. For further information, please contact the Press & Public Affairs Officer.
Where can I get more information from?
If you can not find the information you need here, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) website offers a wider range of material, which covers all aspects of British Foreign policy. You can also find excellent background briefs, called Focus International, which offer reports on a range of subjects. Alternatively, if your question is country specific you could always surf websites of other British High Commissions and Embassies.
Study in the UK
Together with the British Council the British government funds a number of scholarships in the UK for Tanzanian nationals. The British Council's website contains more information.
How can you contact us?
You can reach us, the PPA Section, from 0730hrs-1530hrs Monday to Thursday, and 0730hrs-1300hrs on Fridays, by either telephoning the British High Commission on +255 22 2110101 or send us an e-mail by clicking here
